The Yankees entered Tuesday's game against the Orioles owning a three-game losing streak, but they fought their way to a 7-6 win in 11 innings.

Here are the takeaways...

- Anthony Rizzo got the party started in the bottom of the first inning. The Yankees first baseman sent a towering shot into the second deck to give the Bombers a 1-0. After a scorching hot start in April, that was just Rizzo’s second homer in the month of May and his 11th of the season.

- Jose Trevino has received most of the catching reps with Kyle Higashioka out due to COVID and he has not disappointed. In the bottom of the third, Trevino smacked a solo homer into the left center field bullpen–his second of the season–to extend the Yankees lead to 2-0. And he wasn't done there.

- Coming into Tuesday’s game, formerly known Oriole killer Gleyber Torres had not homered in his previous 36 games against Baltimore. However, in the bottom of fourth, Torres changed that when he clobbered a solo homer to left field giving the Yankees a 3-0 lead.

- Jordan Montgomery continued his solid play with tonight's performance. He allowed two runs over six innings of work striking out five. Austin Hays knocked the southpaw out of the game on his leadoff solo homer in the top of the seventh.

- Michael King came on to relieve Montgomery and it was not an ideal outing. King gave the Orioles the lead when he served up a three-run homer to Rougned Odor, giving Baltimore a 5-3 lead.

- The Yanks battled back in the bottom of the seventh, as Torres lined his second homer of the game over the left field wall to cut the lead to 5-4. Isiah Kiner-Falefa singled and Marwin Gonzalez was hit by a pitch to set up first and second with two outs for Trevino. The Yankees backstop lined a base hit to right field tying the game at five.

- The game would go into extras tied at five. Clarke Schmidt came on to pitch the two extra innings for the Yanks. Both teams were held scoreless in the 10th inning, however, the Orioles would scratch across a run in the top of the 11th–thanks to the automatic runner–on an RBI groundout by Hays.

- The Bombers answered in the 11th on an RBI single up the middle by Isiah Kiner-Falefa. Gonzalez wrapped a single to right to set up first and second with one out for Trevino. The 29-year-old lined a shot down the third base line scoring Kiner-Falefa, winning the game for the Yankees by a score of 7-6.
