Earlier this month, the Red Sox rolled into Yankee Stadium and left with a three-game sweep, as the Yankees were in a real tailspin at that point, having lost 10 of 13 games by the end of that series in the Bronx.

But dating back to last Tuesday, the Bombers have turned things around, winning seven out of their last nine, capped off by Thursday’s 8-1 win over the Kansas City Royals.

With Luke Voit’s return to the lineup and Gary Sanchez’s recent resurgence, the Yankees have begun to generate the kind of offense that most fans expected to see this season, and the team is clicking at the right time as they get set to start another chapter in their heated rivalry with the Red Sox this weekend.

“We’ve talked about the at-bat quality, and it continues to uptick,” Aaron Boone said after Thursday’s win. “Any time you score eight runs, it’s a big offensive output and a lot of guys having a hand in that, but it’s another one of those games where it could have been even more just by the amount of heavy at-bats up and down the order. It’s good to see these guys really starting to get a little bit of that swagger, and just we’ve got to continue with it.

“To lose a tough one the first game of this series and for the guys to bounce back like they did in comeback fashion last night, to finish it off this afternoon heading into Boston, definitely a good thing heading into the weekend, no question.”

Boston has been one of the biggest surprises in baseball this season, as they currently hold a 44-30 record and sit 4.0 games ahead of the Yankees in the AL East standings. After finishing fifth in the division last season, the Red Sox have seemingly accelerated their rebuild to become of the top teams in the league, record-wise.

“It’s gonna be fun. We’re ready to go,” Giancarlo Stanton said of the upcoming series. “It’s always high tensions when we’re playing them, so it should be good.

“We’ve just got to feed off of what we’ve been doing lately. … We’ve been able to put together pure at-bats over innings, you know, not just three innings at a time or just an inning at a time, over the course of the full game. You just keep your nose in it and we’re never out of it.”

The three-game set in Boston will begin on Friday night at 7:10 p.m., with Domingo German set to face Red Sox lefty Martin Perez.
