Yankees manager Aaron Boone told reporters on Monday that DJ LeMahieu is expected to miss 2-3 weeks with that sprained left thumb he sustained on Saturday against the Red Sox.

Luckily, there was no fracture revealed after an MRI on the thumb. LeMahieu had the same injury during his time with the Colorado Rockies and the timeline for return was comparable.

LeMahieu is leading the American League in batting average this season at .411, which is also second behind former Rockies teammate Charlie Blackmon (.446). He truly picked up where he left off, but now he joins Giancarlo Stanton and Aaron Judge on the injured list.

In better news, though, Aroldis Chapman finds himself back with the Yankees. He has worked his way back to game-ready shape after quarantining following a positive coronavirus test just before the season began.

Zack Britton assumed the closer role while Chapman was gone, but things should return to normal now that he is back.

David Hale was sent to the Yankees' alternate training site as the corresponding move for Chapman returning.
