Our weekly minor league report canvases the Yankees farm system, providing updates about the status of the teams in action and the organization's top prospects.
Notes: Top-30 prospect rankings (via MLBPipeline.com) are club based with overall MLB ranks, if applicable, in parenthesis. Prospects currently in the major leagues will not be covered here. Team records and statistics are through games played June 14, 2018, unless otherwise noted.
Rookie - Dominican Summer League South Division - DSL Yankees
Record: 7-4, 4th place, 1.0 GB
No. 30 -- Raimfer Salinas (OF), who just cracked the top 30 last week, is off to a slow start with just two hits in his first 21 at-bats.
Making Noise -- Ronny Rojas (SS) has racked up eight hits in 23 at-bats, including three doubles and two home runs with eight RBIs.
Class A - South Atlantic League Southern Division - Charleston RiverDogs
Record: 32-33, 5th place, 7.5 GB
Charleston went 3-4 since the last report, losing a game in the standings.
No. 14 -- Deivi Garcia (RHP) was moved to Charleston after making one start with Tampa. In his first start for the RiverDogs, Garcia surrendered two runs in five innings with seven strikeouts.
No. 17 -- Glenn Otto (RHP) remains on the seven-day disabled list. Otto had thrown 10 1/3 innings to the tune of a 3.48 ERA and 1.45 WHIP before being injured.
No. 18 -- Nolan Martinez (RHP) remains on the seven-day disabled list and has yet to pitch this season.
No. 20 -- Dermis Garcia (3B) had his season-long slump persist, as he's hitting just .159 in 88 at-bats.
Making Noise -- Welfrin Mateo (3B) has made the most of his first six games with the club, totaling six hits in 20 at-bats with two doubles and two homers.
Advanced A - Florida State League North Division - Tampa Tarpons
Record: 34-33, 3rd place, 2.5 GB
Tampa went 2-5 this week, losers of four straight games. The Tarpons were mathematically eliminated from the first-half division race.
No. 1 (No. 37) -- Estevan Florial (OF) is on the disabled list until mid-August due to a right wrist injury that required surgery. Florial was hitting .246 with a .353 on-base percentage and a .343 slugging percentage in 156 plate appearances before the surgery.
No. 3 (No. 65) -- Albert Abreu (RHP) made two starts since the last report, allowing three runs in 6 2/3 innings last Friday and hurling five innings of scoreless ball Wednesday. Abreu's ERA is down to 4.10 on the season.
No. 6 -- Freicer Perez (RHP) was placed on the seven-day disabled list. Perez's ERA sits at 7.20 across 25 innings (six starts) this season.
No. 11 -- Clarke Schmidt (RHP), the Yankees' 2017 first-round draft pick, is on the 60-day disabled list as he continues to rehab from Tommy John surgery.
No. 24 -- Nick Nelson (RHP) lasted 5 2/3 innings in his last start in which he allowed two runs on seven hits and two walks. Nelson struck out four batters in the affair.
No. 25 -- Trevor Lane (LHP) coughed up two more runs in 1 2/3 innings (two appearances) this week. Lane has allowed 14 runs in his last 9 2/3 innings of work.
No. 26 -- Garrett Whitlock (RHP) struggled in his most recent start, getting reached for four runs in 4 1/3 innings on nine hits and two walks. The outing boosted his season ERA to 1.57 in 63 combined innings between Charleston and Tampa.
No. 29 -- Isiah Gilliam (1B) is riding an 11-game hitting streak in which he has boosted his batting average 15 points to a team-leading .273.
Making Noise -- Brandon Wagner (1B) leads the team with 13 homers and has driven in 32 runs on the season.
Double-A - Eastern League Eastern Division - Trenton Thunder
Record: 39-26, T-1st place, 0.0 GB
Trenton went 5-2 since the last report and has pulled into a dead heat with New Hampshire atop the standings.
No. 7 -- Domingo Acevedo (RHP) made a start Wednesday, tossing 3 1/3 innings in which he gave up two runs. Acevedo allowed five hits and one walk while striking out one batter.
No. 9 -- Dillon Tate (RHP) made his first start in eight days on Saturday and didn't show signs of rust, tossing six innings of one run ball. Tate sports a 3.43 ERA in 60 1/3 innings (11 starts).
No. 12 -- Jonathan Loaisiga (RHP) will make his MLB debut Friday. In 45 innings across High-A and Double-A, Loaisiga has a 3.00 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and a 54-to-4 strikeout to walk ratio.
No. 13 -- Trevor Stephan (RHP) got the win on Tuesday with a scoreless five-inning effort. Stephen's ERA stands at 3.15 in 20 innings with Trenton.
Making Noise -- Trey Amburgey (OF) is hitting .385 over his last seven games with two homers and seven RBIs. The hot streak has boosted Amburgey's season average 20 points.
Triple-A - International League North Division - Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders
Record: 31-34, 4th place, 6.5 GB
The RailRiders went 5-2 since the last report, which helped move them out of the division cellar.
No. 2 (No. 40) -- Justus Sheffield (LHP) made two starts since the last report, racking up 14 strikeouts and allowing just two runs in 11 1/3 innings.
No. 4 (No. 67) -- Chance Adams (RHP) worked seven innings Wednesday and held Rochester to just one run. Adams struck out five batters and walked one.
No. 8 -- Thairo Estrada (2B/SS) remains on the seven-day disabled list. In 33 at-bats with Scranton, Estrada was hitting just .152.
No. 15 -- Cody Carroll (RHP) made two appearances this week, allowing one run in two innings. Carroll owns a 2.20 ERA in 28 2/3 innings this season.
No. 16 -- Billy McKinney (OF) continues to flex his muscles, launching three more home runs this week, giving him eight in just 80 at-bats with SWB.
No. 19 -- Giovanny Gallegos (RHP) threw three innings (two appearances) and did not allow a run. Gallegos has now thrown in five straight games without allowing a run.
No. 27 -- Ben Heller (RHP) is on the 60-day disabled list after undergoing Tommy John surgery in April.
Making Noise -- Ryan McBroom (OF) returned from a brief stay at Trenton and has 11 hits in his last 28 at-bats with a double, triple, two home runs and seven RBIs. McBroom has eight homers for SWB this season.
