As is custom on the final day of MLB Winter Meetings, the Rule 5 Draft was conducted to close out the festivities, and the Yankees saw a few players poached from their system.

During the Major League portion of the Draft, RHP Rony Garcia was selected by the Tigers from the Yankees.

Garcia began the 2019 season in High-A Tampa last season, where he pitched to a 2.16 ERA over five games. That quick success saw him move to Double-A Trenton, where he leveled out a bit. He had a 4.44 ERA over 20 starts with 104 strikeouts to 38 walks. He also owned a 1.25 WHIP with the Thunder.

Other than Garcia, the Yankees saw a few prospects leave in the Triple-A phase. Among them were RHP Hobie Harris (Blue Jays), RHP Will Carter (White Sox), RHP Raynel Espinal (Red Sox), and INF Wendell Rijo (Braves).
