Yankees going for series sweep against Orioles Thursday at 1:05 p.m.

8/14/2019, 4:21 PM

The Yankees (80-41, 9.0 GA in AL East) are searching for a four-game sweep of the Orioles (39-81) at Yankee Stadium on Thursday at 1:05 p.m.

Yankees notes

The Yankees brought Thairo Estrada up from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, and he's getting action right away in the ninth hole today while playing second base. ...Aaron Boone gave some positive injury updates, with CC Sabathia the best one. He'll return to the rotation on Sunday after dealing with right knee inflammation. ...Giancarlo Stanton also continues to progress, as he's close to running off the anti-gravity treadmill for the first time. ...Luke Voit was also seen taking grounders and hitting in the cage today. He could move on to Tampa or Scranton soon to continue his rehab.

Who is starting for the Yankees?

LHP J.A. Happ (5.48 ERA/1.35 WHIP), who is hoping to get back on track after another sub-par outing against the Blue Jays last time out. Happ's former team got him for six earned on four hits (three homers) and three walks over five innings.

The Yankees are hoping Happ can find himself here in the second half, as his high ERA isn't what they re-signed him to do. He's allowed at least three runs in his last four starts.

Who is starting for the Orioles?

RHP Dylan Bundy (5.04 ERA/1.35 WHIP), who has been pitching well recently. Despite a loss, he allowed just two runs on five hits while striking out six and walking one against the Astros in his last start.

Upcoming schedule

The Yankees remain at home after this game to host the four-game series against a more formidable opponent in the Indians on Tuesday.
