On the injured list since Aug. 21 with a Grade 1 strain in his left hamstring, Gleyber Torres shared an optimistic outlook Wednesday.

Before the Yankees' 7:05 p.m. game Wednesday against the Tampa Bay Rays at Yankee Stadium, Torres provided a positive review after he worked out.

"I'm feeling pretty good, almost ready," Torres said. "I do what I do in the rehab and stuff -- bases, exercise, everything. I just need field at-bats, see real pitchers and I think that is what I need to get ready to get back with the team."

The next step for Torres is an increased workload at the alternate site. A Yankees return could soon follow.

"Yeah, everything was fine," he said of his Wednesday workout at Yankee Stadium. "Today was the last day to get everything -- like bases, getting in agility (work) in the field. I'm feeling really well, so yeah, everything is set for tomorrow. I go tomorrow to do my thing in Scranton and try to get back to play real games."

The Yankees play one game, Thursday's 4:10 p.m. matchup against the Mets at Citi Field, before an out-of-state weekend road trip. After a doubleheader Friday, the Yankees could see Torres back in action Saturday or Sunday.

"Personally, I think it'll take me two days," Torres said. "I hope to catch the team in Baltimore, the last couple games, and try to be active in that series."

In 24 games, Torres has slashed .231/.341/.295 with one home run and six RBI. Despite below-average production for his standards as a two-time All-Star from 2018-19, he could provide the Yankees with a much-needed boost amid the team's flux of recent injuries.

"It's frustrating," Torres said. "Players like myself, every time I see my team lose, it's not feeling really good. So I just try to prepare myself really good every day, try to be ready every day to help my team.

"I mean, that kind of injury is pretty slow because the process and everything, and just make sure everything is all right so when I'm back to play, I don't feel anything -- just try to go 100 percent and play to the best of my ability when my team is."
