Prior to Thursday's game against the Boston Red Sox, the Yankees announced that they designated Miguel Andujar for assignment.

Andujar, 27, hit just .229 this season over 96 at-bats in 27 games with one home run, two doubles, and eight RBI.

The former top prospect debuted for the Yankees in 2017, and finished second in AL Rookie of the Year voting in 2018 after hitting .297 with 27 homers, 47 doubles, and 92 RBI over 149 games.

Injuries then began to derail his career, as he played just 12 games in 2019, 21 games in 2020, and 45 games last season. He signed a one-year, $1.3 million deal with the Yanks prior to the 2022 season to avoid arbitration.

Overall, Andujar has logged 259 games across six seasons in New York, hitting .273 with 35 home runs, 55 doubles, and 122 RBI.
