Domingo Acevedo's Major League debut will have to wait. Just hours after calling him up, the Yankees have sent their No. 7 prospect back down to Double-A Trenton.

The Yankees promoted Acevedo ahead of Saturday's game against the Mets, but did not deploy him in the game. The team announced his demotion after the conclusion of the game.

Acevedo, 24, has a 2.84 ERA over 11 appearances for Trenton this season (eight starts). In 50 1/3 innings pitched, Acevedo has 40 strikeouts, eight walks and a 1.13 WHIP. He hasn't pitched in Triple-A this season, though he did in 2017, when he accumulated a 4.38 ERA across 12 1/3 innings pitched.

Acevedo's fastball sits in the mid-to-high 90s, and he touched triple digits a few years ago. The 6-foot-7 righty also throws a high-80s changeup and mid-80s slider.
