On Friday, Yankees catcher Gary Sanchez joined The Michael Kay Show to talk about the upcoming 2020 season.

Sanchez was asked if he's excited to play with three-time All-Star Gerrit Cole, who joins an already strong Yankees pitching rotation.

"Super excited," Sanchez said. "I thought we already had a pretty good pitching rotation, and Gerrit just makes it that much better."

Sanchez even got a head start on working with Cole, while pitchers and catchers will officially report for Spring Training on Feb. 11.

"Before Spring Training, I see a lot of video," Sanchez said. "And then once we get to camp, I'm gonna sit down and talk with him a lot throughout camp in order for him and I to have a good rapport."

The 27-year-old led all catchers with 34 home runs in 2019, and will look to improve this year after working hard in the offseason.

"Of course, I always feel like I can get better," Sanchez said. "And I worked hard this offseason, first and foremost, to be healthy. And if I'm healthy, I think I can really help the team."

Sanchez has dealt with groin injuries over the past two seasons, as he played in 106 games in 2019 after playing in just 89 games during the 2018 season.

Michael Kay would go on to ask Sanchez about the Houston Astros sign-stealing scandal, and if the Yankees felt robbed of a championship in 2017.

"Yeah, we do feel that way," Sanchez said. "I mean we were doing things right. We were doing things by the book. And to know that a team had an unfair advantage over us is disappointing."
