The Yankees lost to the Toronto Blue Jays, 2-1, despite allowing just three hits.

Here are the takeaways...

- Making his third start of the spring, Marcus Stroman was dominant in his four scoreless innings against the Blue Jays. The right-hander didn’t allow a hit, walked just one and struck out two on 53 pitches (33 strikes). It was the second straight spring start for Stroman, who signed a two-year, $37 million deal in the offseason; he pitched four innings without allowing a run, improving to a 1.74 ERA (0.77 WHIP) across 10.1 innings.

Stroman relied on getting weak contact and ground ball outs on the day as he’s done throughout his entire career. Of the 12 outs he recorded, four came on the ground (including a double play against Bo Bichette) and three were popouts to the infield. The only balls that left the infield were Justin Turner’s lineout to left in the first and Santiago Espinal’s lineout to right in the second.

The right-hander also made sure to work on his entire arsenal of pitches which was most apparent with the first batter of the game. Facing Bichette to lead things off, Stroman struck him out using five different pitches (sinker, slider, cutter, splitter, slurve).

- DJ LeMahieu knocked in the game’s first run in the third inning, giving New York a 1-0 lead against Chris Bassitt. LeMahieu lined a double down the right field line to score Kevin Smith who singled earlier in the frame. It was LeMahieu’s first double and RBI of the spring and came with two outs. He finished 2-for-2 with a walk out of the leadoff spot.

- Other than that, the Yanks’ offense was largely quiet. Juan Soto, who has been enjoying an unbelievable start to spring, went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts and a double play. He’s still batting .467 with a 1.729 OPS. Aaron Judge also went 0-for-3 with a strikeout as his tough start to spring training continues. He has just two hits in 12 at-bats.

- Anthony Rizzo stayed hot with a hit in three at-bats (although he has caught stealing), while Gleyber Torres went 0-for-3 with two Ks.
