With pitchers and catchers reporting to Tampa, Fla., the 2021 MLB season is officially underway for the Yankees. As such, 32 non-roster invitees have been announced by the team to up the competition.

There will be 72 total players at spring training camp, with the 40-man roster added to the invitees.

Those who stand out begin with Kyle Barraclough, a reliever with years of experience in the league. The 30-year-old owns. a 3.53 ERA over five big league seasons between the Miami Marlins, Washington Nationals, and San Francisco Giants. He signed a minor-league deal, like many of the invitees, with the Yanks this offseason.

Jay Bruce is also part of that club after a down 2020 with the Philadelphia Phillies. He had a .198 average over 32 games with just 19 hits and 14 RBI.

A couple of catching prospects also make the cut here, with 2020's first-round pick Austin Wells getting the invite as well as Anthony Seigler. Wells is the No. 5 prospect in the system, according to Baseball America. C Robinson Chirinos was also a late addition to the group.

Finally, Trey Amburgey is a Triple-A stud for the Yanks, and will get he chance to compete in the outfield. He had a career year with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in 2019, setting new highs in homers (22), hits (129), runs (73) and doubles (31).
