The Mets (70-67, 14.0 GB in NL East, 4.0 GB for second Wild Card) continue a three-game series with the Washington Nationals (77-59, 6.5 GB in NL East, 3.5 GA for first Wild Card) Tuesday at 7:05 p.m. on SNY.

Mets Notes

The Mets face the Nationals with both teams sending their aces to the mound, the third time all season. The previous matchups featured wins for the Mets, who came out on top March 28 and May 22. While the pitching matchup brings the buzz, the Mets are also riding the momentum of C Wilson Ramos, whose career-high hitting streak enters the night at 25 games -- the longest active hitting streak in the MLB. Should Ramos extend his streak to 26 games, he would tie former 3B David Wright, who did so from Sept. 17, 2006, to April 19, 2007. On another streak, 1B Pete Alonso has reached base safely in 28 straight games since Aug. 2 and tied a Mets rookie record as a result after Justin Turner did so in 2011. Alonso's is the longest active streak in baseball. While the Mets activated Robinson Cano off the 10-day IL before the game, 2B Joe Panik gets the start.
