The Jets have dropped each of their first three games this season, and while Sam Darnold is hoping to be back for the Week 5 matchup with the Eagles, the question remains about how the Jets should handle Darnold when he's ready to play.
"First of all, you don't want to rush anybody back from mono, that's just number one, and the way this offensive line is playing, I wouldn't rush him back either," said Ray Lucas. "This is our franchise quarterback."
According to Bart Scott, if the Jets truly believe this team is still good enough to win, then they must acquire a veteran quarterback to take Darnold's place.
"If you think you have a chance, you make a real run at a quarterback," said Scott. "You give up a fourth or fifth round draft pick and you say 'Give me Tyrod Taylor.' He should be good enough for us to be able to evaluate. He's a professional quarterback. Make a trade for a serious quarterback."
