Here are the takeaways from the Mets' spring training game on Monday against the Houston Astros.

Carlos Carrasco allowed back to back singles to start his outing, but a double play stopped some bleeding, and he only allowed just one run in the first. Carrasco allowed another run on two hits and a walk in the second, but then went three-up, three-down in his next two innings. Carrasco got one more out in the fifth before being pulled. In all, he allowed two runs on four hits while walking one and striking out five, throwing 42 strikes on his 62 pitches. He finishes spring training with a 5.40 ERA, allowing five earned runs in 8.1 innings.

Dominic Smith continued his hot spring with another pair of hits, including a three-run home run in the seventh inning that gave the Mets a 3-2 lead. Smith is hitting .440 with a 1.413 OPS. Smith, of course, made news this weekend by being in a potential trade with the San Diego Padres that fell through, but if his bat stays like this, it’ll be much harder for the Mets to get rid of him.

Sean Reid-Foley entered the game after Carrasco, and retired both batters he faced, one of them via strikeout. Edwin Diaz entered the game in the sixth inning, and in his two-thirds struck out two and walked one. Drew Smith wrapped up the inning by striking out Michael Papierski.

Seth Lugo tossed a scoreless seventh where he struck out three batters, despite allowing two hits. Trevor May came on in the eighth, and allowed just a walk in his scoreless frame while punching out one. However, Adam Ottavino blew the save in the ninth, allowing a run on two hits and a walk. The game ended in a 3-3 tie.

The Mets had the bases loaded and one out but came away with no runs on two occasions: in the top of the second, James McCann grounded into a double play to end the threat. In the seventh, Tomas Nido popped out to first, and J.D. Davis flied out to center field.
