Yankees pitcher Domingo German, who is suspended for the entire 2020 MLB season, posted on his Instagram Friday night that his baseball playing career may be over.

“Me fui del baseball Gracias mi gente,” German wrote in an Instagram story, which translates in English to “I left baseball Thank you my people.”

German also posted another cryptic message on his Instagram, which ESPN’s Marly Rivera translated:

“Some people make history on both sides (?), I think I did my part at Yankee Stadium, if I decide not to come back, I will be very proud of my 11-year professional career. God bless everyone who has supported me.”

The 27-year-old right-hander was issued an 81-game suspension from Major League Baseball last season stemming from a domestic violence incident.

He served 18 of those regular-season games and was banned from postseason play, though those playoff games did not count against his suspension.

So with 63 games left on his suspension, that took the entire 60-game 2020 season out of play.

Manager Aaron Boone was asked about German following the Yankees' Friday sim game, and while he was aware of German's post, he did not have any info to add.

German has pitched to a 4.52 ERA over three seasons with the Yankees. He posted an 18-4 record with the Bombers in 2019 before his season came to an end early due to the suspension.
