Mets pitching prospect Thomas Szapucki is out for the season after undergoing an ulnar nerve transposition, according to league sources.

Szapucki, 25, made his MLB debut on June 30 in a blowout loss to the Braves. He allowed seven hits in 3.2 innings and was charged with six runs. He had a 4.10 ERA in 10 games -- nine starts -- for Triple-A Syracuse.

The elbow surgery was similar to the one that ended Jacob deGrom’s 2016 season. At the time, then-GM Sandy Alderson said that the procedure was “not unusual after Tommy John surgery,” which deGrom underwent in 2010. He was ready for spring training in 2017.

Szapucki had Tommy John surgery in 2017. He underwent this latest procedure Tuesday morning.

He is expected to be ready for spring training.
