Late into Monday night, teams pursuing starting pitching said that the Houston Astros were making a strong push to acquire a starting pitcher and pursuing Zack Wheeler. One rival executive predicted that Wheeler will be traded Tuesday, with the Astros as the destination.

"I fully expect the Astros to get Wheeler," said one rival GM. "And if they don't they'll just pivot to Bauer."

Other sources noted that Atlanta, Tampa Bay, Milwaukee and the Yankees were involved to varying degrees on both Wheeler, Noah Syndergaard and Edwin Diaz.

The situation is fluid, as are all trade deadlines, but there's a lot of talk about Wheeler-to-Astros this morning.
