With the major chips falling in NBA free agency, the next tier of signings are underway and Rondae Hollis-Jefferson is now a former Brooklyn Nets player.

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the 24 year old has signed a one-year deal with the defending champions, the Toronto Raptors. Hollis-Jefferson is a former first-round pick, going off the board at pick No. 23 at the 2015 NBA draft. Hollis-Jefferson was selected by the Portland Trail Blazers and then his draft rights were traded to the Nets where he spent the first four years of his career.

In a salary cap play, the Nets did not qualify an offer to Hollis-Jefferson this offseason. The Nets went on to use that cap space to land Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving and DeAndre Jordan.

For his career, Hollis-Jefferson has a field goal percentage of 44.4 along with 5.9 rebound per game. Last season with the Nets, Hollis-Jefferson saw his playing time with dip. After a career-best season in 2017-18, when he shot 47.2 percent from the field, Hollis-Jefferson saw that number drop to 41.1 percent last season. After appearing in 68 games with 59 starts two seasons ago, he also saw his playing time dip to only 21 starts in 59 games played.

Hollis-Jefferson joins a Raptors team that recently lost Danny Green to the Los Angeles Lakers and superstar Kawhi Leonard to the Los Angeles Clippers.
