6. Romeo Okwara

It’s a familiar face for the Giants, as Okwara spent his first seasons in the league with New York. But the undrafted free agent pickup out of Notre Dame was still developing in 2016 and 2017 before the Giants didn’t retain him after his sophomore season.

He found more production in Detroit with the Lions, though, and he just totaled a 10-sack campaign in 2020 with 44 tackles and 11 for loss – all of which are career highs. He would be a cheaper option than the rest we’ll display, which is good for the landscape the league is currently in, and he seems to have realized what he needs to do to get the job done.

5. Leonard Floyd

The former first-round pick by the Bears finally totaled his first career double-digit sack season. He had 10.5 in the regular season with the Los Angeles Rams, who benefitted greatly from his production on the line this season. It helps that Aaron Donald is always the main point of emphasis on game day, but Floyd had 28 total quarterback pressures over 16 games.

This was his first season of consistent production, so take that with a grain of salt. But the Giants could also reap benefits of Floyd working off the edge under Patrick Graham’s scheme.

4. Yannick Ngakoue

He’s turning 26 years old and displayed on two different teams why he’s such scary pass rusher. He tallied eight sacks with both the Vikings and Ravens this past season, though it’s not his best numbers. Those came in 2017 – a Pro Bowl year – with 12.0 sacks and 30 combined tackles over 16 games.

The reason Ngakoue is in the middle of the pack here is due to the cost that he might want after his dispute with the Jags this past offseason. They didn’t meet his number and because of that he wasn’t showing up at training camp until he was traded.

3. Leonard Williams

Have to put his name on this list. Williams earned it.

The breakout performance everyone around the league has been waiting for came in 2020 with Williams busting through his career-high in sacks, collecting 11.5 as well as 57 total tackles. He may not come off the edge in Graham’s scheme, but Williams proved that he can get that sack total in there as well as being a big factor in the run game.

Also, Williams wants edge money. And he will likely get it now after that performance. Expect the Giants to be at the top of the list when talks begin with him, too.
