Rangers’ Matt Rempe week-to-week with upper-body injury

Rempe has improved tremendously this season

The Rangers will be without fourth liner Matt Rempe for some time.

The team announced prior to Thursday’s practice that Rempe is week-to-week due to an upper-body injury.

It’s still unknown when exactly the injury occurred, but the big-bodied winger did go down awkwardly during a fight with Kings forward Tanner Jeannot on Tuesday -- and he played just one shift the remainder of the game after serving his penalty.

The Rangers will be getting Sam Carrick back after he missed one game for the birth of his son.

Still, Rempe's presence will certainly be missed on both ends of the ice as he has provided a tremendous boost to New York's fourth line with his heavy-hitting and high-energy play.

The 22-year-old enforcer also set out to improve his all-around game this offseason and that's exactly what he did -- contributing two goals, three assists, and 103 hits (sixth on the team).

With 10 games left and New York still on the outside of the playoff picture, this could potentially spell the end of his season.
