David Quinn said that he has always liked Spooner as a player and noted that he has "elite skill and vision," a high hockey IQ and will be someone that the Rangers rely on. (NYR)

Quinn added that he thinks there is "another level" Spooner can get to as a player and that they have had discussions about how he can take the next step. (NYR)

Spooner said that he thought last season was his best and that, in looking back, the trade from Boston was "definitely something that was needed." (NY Post)
