Before the NHL season was put on pause due to the coronavirus outbreak, Rangers winger Artemi Panarin was having an unbelievable debut season with the Blueshirts.

Now, Panarin is like the rest of us, doing what he can to stay safe at home while waiting for the day that hockey and other pro sports can return.

"I am just praying that all the people are healthy," Panarin told The New York Post on Sunday. "Everyone should stay safe and stay home, for sure. Health is the most important thing for everyone.

"When this has passed, then it will be time for hockey."

In 69 games this season, Panarin had recorded 95 points with 32 goals and 63 assists. In his first season in New York, Panarin, along with Mika Zibanejad, was leading the way in a second-half push towards a possible playoff spot.

He's been riding things out at his Florida home with former teammate Sergei Bobrovsky, and while Panarin said he may be heading back to his home in Connecticut soon, for now he's doing what he can to stay occupied and stay as close to game-shape as possible.

"I ordered a hockey net and plastic ice so I can add more to my workouts and be more prepared if we are able to start again," said Panarin. "So far, I have been working out in the mornings, then it's time for breakfast, then we watch movies, and, then, whatever we do the rest of the day.

"I think probably like everyone else."

While Panarin is doing his part in staying home, he's also made a donation to healthcare workers. Joining in on an effort with Bobrovsky and Islanders goalie Semyon Varlamov, Panarin donated 1,500 surgical masks to the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, while the other two members made similar contributions to other hospitals.

"I heard on the news that the healthcare workers had an urgent need for masks and were in danger without them, so I thought that would be a great way to show support," Panarin said. "It was not a big deal for me. It is really the smallest thing I could do. I am very happy to be able to help in some way."
