Pete Alonso is trying to become the first person to win the Home Run Derby three consecutive times. If he does, he will join Ken Griffey Jr. as the only players with three titles to their name.

Here is the latest on Alonso's quest for a third championship in Dodger Stadium...

Round 1 vs. Ronald Acuna Jr.

Alonso needed just 20 homers after Acuña put up 19, and it was a struggle at first. But thankfully, Alonso racked up bonus time quickly with home runs of 480 and 479 feet with his second and fourth homers, respectfully.

The Mets' slugger, who's rocking a "Polar Power" bat, had nine homers when he took his timeout with 1:20 left and had 17 homers before his original three minutes expired. He then hit three homers in less than 30 seconds to move on.

He will face Mariners' Julio Rodriguez in Round 2, who blasted an impressive 32 homers in the first round, the second-most in a first round in Derby history, behind Alonso's 35 from last year.

Round 2 vs. Julio Rodriguez

The rookie phenom got off to a slow start in the semifinals, but went on a crazy run in the final minute, hitting 23 dingers before heading to bonus time. J-Rod then blasted nine more afterward, giving Alonso quite the mountain to climb.

Alonso hit six in his first minute, but took an early timeout after struggling for a few swings. It still took him a while to get going, as he finished regular time with 18 homers. Needing 13 to tie, he hit just five in bonus time, putting Rodriguez in the finals, and ending Alonso's three-peat quest.
