OG Anunoby put together one of his best games as a Knick in Thursday night’s 122-84 rout of the defending champion Denver Nuggets.

The star small forward, who was acquired in a deal with the Toronto Raptors, recorded a team-leading 26 points on 10-of-18 shooting from the field and 3-of-9 from behind the arc, and added two rebounds and six steals.

He became just the third player this season to finish a game with 25+ points and at least six steals.

“I think he’s getting more and more comfortable,” Jalen Brunson said. “He played really well tonight and was impressive on both sides of the ball. That’s the OG we saw playing against him and now he’s doing it here in a new uniform.”

“We're getting good solid play there," Tom Thibodeau added. "You can see each game he's finding a good rhythm. He’s making really good decisions as to when to shoot and when to pass, he’s been very aggressive, and is getting downhill and making good plays for us."

Now that he has more practice with the team and is getting more involved offensively, Anunoby certainly has settled in nicely.

The 26-year-old is averaging 14.5 points, 5.2 rebounds, 2.5 steals, and 1.3 blocks while shooting 43 percent from behind the arc through his first 12 games as a Knick. He’s also an incredible +239 over that span.

Most importantly, though, he’s helped turn around what was a struggling Knicks defense.

After Thursday’s wire-to-wire victory, New York is now 11-2 since completing the trade, including dominant wins over the Nuggets, Minnesota Timberwolves, and Philadelphia 76ers.

Behind their much-improved defense and more up-tempo offense, they’ve been one of the hottest teams in basketball, and are currently riding a five-game winning streak.

While the quick transformation may come as a surprise to some around the league, Anunoby isn’t shocked at all, and he thinks things are only going to keep trending up as the season progresses.

“That’s what I wanted to do, I expect to make a difference,” he said. “We’re getting better every day and every stretch we have the full practices together. The longer we’re together the more well get used to each other and figure out how we’re going to play the rest of the season.”
