Looks like the Nets will be adding another veteran piece for the NBA restart in Orlando.
Sources tell SNY NBA Insider Ian Begley that the Nets are close to a deal with former Knicks forward Lance Thomas.
Thomas, 32, is an eight-year NBA veteran who last played with the Knicks in 2018-19. The Duke product has also played with the New Orleans Hornets/Pelicans and Oklahoma City Thunder.
He has modest career averages of 5.2 points and 2.6 rebounds, but he was praised in New York for how important he was within the Knicks' locker room, provided veteran leadership for an otherwise young team.
Thomas becomes the fourth substitute signed by the Nets, joining Michael Beasley, Jamal Crawford, and Donta Hall.
The Nets will be without Spencer Dinwiddie, DeAndre Jordan, and Taurean Prince, who all tested positive for the coronavirus. Wilson Chandler and Kyrie Irving also opted out, while Kevin Durant said he wouldn't be testing that Achilles rehab in Orlando, too.
