Michael Conforto's absence from Monday's lineup against the Rays was thought to just be for a rest day, but it turns out the OF is dealing with some hamstring tightness, the team announced.
For now, Conforto is listed as day-to-day after the tightness improved Monday from earlier on Sunday night, and he still might be available off the bench for the Mets if they feel they need him against the AL-leading Rays.
Conforto is slashing .328/.419/.525 for New York this season as the team continues to fight for a spot in the playoffs. They are currently sitting 2.5 GB from the second wild card spot.
Brandon Nimmo will shift out to right field, while Guillermo Heredia gets the start out in center.
