The final two games of the first Subway Series between the Mets and Yankees this season will be postponed, MLB announced at noon on Friday, after two members of the Mets organization tested positive for coronavirus on Thursday.

"Out of an abundance of caution and to allow for additional testing and contact tracing to be performed within the New York Mets’ organization, the games between the Mets and New York Yankees at Citi Field on Saturday, August 22nd and Sunday, August 23rd have been postponed. Major League Baseball will continue to provide updates as necessary," MLB said in its statement.

MLB had postponed the Mets' series finale against the Marlins in Miami on Thursday and the first game of the Subway Series that was supposed to be played Friday.

The Mets and Yankees are supposed to play each other again starting next Friday at Yankee Stadium, but nothing is for sure now that a reported player and coach for the Mets have tested positive for COVID-19.
