Every Monday, we'll be taking a look at how the Mets' top prospects (their MLB.com Mets Top 10 rankings are in parenthesis) are faring.

Andrés Giménez, SS, Double-A Binghamton (No. 2) -- ETA 2020

Pete Alonso remains listed No. 1 on MLB.com's list of top Mets prospects, but he sure seems well entrenched in the majors given his outstanding start to the season. So Giménez tops the Mets' farm system, and it was a good week for the shortstop in Double-A Binghamton.

The 20-year-old went 9-for-25 in six games, recording one homer, three doubles, three RBI, three walks and two stolen bases along with six strikeouts. He takes a five-game hitting streak into Monday's game at Akron, and he had three hits in two of those games. He did commit an error in his last game, his second of the season.

The standout performance came on Thursday, when he went 3-for-4 with a homer and two doubles. The homer was a blast to right field which left the stadium and went "across the street," according to the MiLB video description.

Ronny Mauricio, SS, Low-A Columbia (No. 3) -- ETA 2022

Mauricio was bound to cool off a bit after going 13-for-34 over an eight-game stretch entering last week, but it wasn't all bad for the 18-year-old.

He had a four-hit game on Wednesday in which he went 4-for-5 with a triple and a run scored, and he followed that up with two 1-for-3 performances, the first of which included two stolen bases. He stole second and third before scoring on a passed ball. Overall in his last six games, Mauricio went 6-for-24 with a double, triple, two runs, three walks and five strikeouts. He also made an error last Tuesday.

"I think one of the biggest things is he's not afraid," Columbia manager Pedro Lopez recently told The State. "If he makes a mistake, he doesn't put his head down. That's hard for young guys. I think he's a special kid that enjoys playing the game. It's a privilege for me to have him in my lineup every day."

Mark Vientos, 3B, Low-A Columbia (No. 4) -- ETA 2021

It was a fairly quiet week for the 19-year-old Florida native. He went 4-for-19 with one double, a sac fly and a walk along with six strikeouts. He grounded into a double play and was caught stealing once.

Vientos has one multi-hit game this season, which came right before last week's Top Prospect Watch.

Shervyen Newton, SS, Low-A Columbia (No. 5) -- ETA 2022

Unfortunately for Newton, he has yet to play yet this season because of a shoulder injury. The Netherlands-born Newton may eventually shift to third base, but according to MLB.com's scouting report, he could potentially remain a shortstop.

"Defensively, Newton has shown the hands, footwork and instincts -- not to mention the plus arm strength -- to potentially stay at shortstop, though it's reasonable to think he'll outgrow the position because his speed is presently fringy and because he has considerable physical projection remaining," the report says.

David Peterson, LHP, Double-A Binghamton (No. 6) -- ETA 2020

Ranked as the top pitcher in the Mets' system, Peterson was charged with five runs in 5.1 innings in his last start on Wednesday, but only two were earned because of two errors in a four-run third inning. The 23-year-old southpaw, a first-round pick from the 2017 MLB Draft, allowed four hits and three walks while striking out two. He threw 92 pitches, 58 for strikes.

Simeon Woods Richardson, RHP, Low-A Columbia (No. 7) -- ETA 2022

The hard-throwing 18-year-old had a strong two-start week, allowing zero runs and zero walks over seven total innings. Last Monday, Woods Richardson allowed just one hit in three innings with five strikeouts while facing the minimum nine batters.

On Saturday, he allowed two hits in four innings with four strikeouts, throwing a season-high 55 pitches. If he keeps this up, he could shoot up prospect rankings across the board.

Anthony Kay, LHP, Double-A Binghamton (No. 8) -- ETA 2020

The 2016 first-round pick from Long Island took the loss in his start last Tuesday, allowing four runs in 4.2 innings on five hits and a walk along with four strikeouts. He gave up a solo home run in the fourth inning and also hit a batter while throwing a season-high 90 pitches.

Thomas Szapucki, LHP, Low-A Columbia (No. 9) -- ETA 2021

After missing the 2018 season because of Tommy John surgery, Szapucki looked good in his first two appearances for Columbia. He hasn't pitched since April 12.
