The Mets took control early with Michael Wacha dealing in his debut and the offense hitting multiple home runs, as New York picked up its second win of the season with a 7-4 victory over the Red Sox. >> Box Score
Five takeaways from Monday's game
1. Wacha looked solid in his first game donning blue and orange, dealing for the Mets through five innings as he tries to keep his spot at the end of the rotation locked. Wacha allowed five hits, one run and one walk Monday night, while also striking out four batters.
2. The Mets' bats really woke up from a quiet first series against the Atlanta Braves. Michael Conforto, Pete Alonso and Dominic Smith each hit home runs with runners on base, with a rocket being sent out of the park in three straight innings from the second to the fourth.
It was the first home run of the season for each player. Alonso's was impressive, as it went over the Green Monster in left field with a 116.3 exit velocity.
3. Red Sox starter Josh Osich was pulled after just two innings, giving up the initial two-run homer to Conforto in the second. He allowed just one other hit and a walk on 28 pitches Monday night.
4. New York cracked double-digit hits for the first time this season with 10. Amed Rosario, Wilson Ramos and Jeff McNeil each contributed two hits.
5. Down 7-2 in the bottom of the eighth, the Red Sox made things interesting by tacking on another two runs off Jeurys Familia to cut the lead to just three, but Seth Lugo came in to get the final out of the inning with a man on first to end the bleeding at that.
