If Benge makes the team

If Benge is the starting right fielder, a bench spot will almost certainly be taken by Tyrone Taylor.

In addition to Benge and Taylor, Baty, Mike Tauchman, and MJ Melendez are legitimate possibilities to get time in right field to start the season.

There is no scenario where Benge would make the team and not be the starter in right, which means his presence on the roster would likely squeeze out either Melendez or Tauchman.

That's because with a bench that includes Torrens, Vientos, and Taylor, the Mets would need someone who is capable of playing both middle infield spots.

An ideal fit for the aforementioned role could be Vidal Brujan, who can play every spot on the field except catcher.

If Benge doesn't make the team

If Benge is not the starting right fielder, it means that he's in Triple-A Syracuse -- something that will have a ripple effect on the rest of the roster.
