The Mets selected hard-throwing right-handed relief pitcher Justin Slaten from the Rangers in the Rule 5 Draft, but quickly traded him to the Red Sox for minor league left-handed pitcher Ryan Ammons.
In addition to Ammons, the Mets received cash considerations from Boston.
Ammons, 22, was selected by the Red Sox in the 2023 MLB Draft from Clemson.
During his college career, Ammons had a 4.35 ERA and 1.33 WHIP with 13.1 strikeouts per nine.
He appeared in 47 games, with all but two of those appearances coming in relief.
