After a five-day hiatus due to one player and one coach testing positive for the coronavirus, the Mets will return to action on Tuesday night against the Miami Marlins at Citi Field when they play a doubleheader beginning at 5:10 p.m., the league announced on Monday.

The Mets will be the home team for the first game, with the Marlins the home team for the second game in order to make up the game that was postponed last Thursday.

Since the two positive tests were announced, no further Mets have tested positive.

The Mets' game this past Thursday against the Marlins that was to take place in Miami was postponed upon news of the positive tests, and the three-game series against the Yankees that was to be played this past weekend at Citi Field was postponed as the Mets underwent further coronavirus testing and contact tracing took place.

After the Mets play the doubleheader against Marlins on Tuesday, they will play five games in three days against the Yankees from Friday through Sunday at Yankee Stadium -- with doubleheaders on Friday and Sunday and a single game on Saturday. The other Mets vs. Yankees game will be played on Sept. 3 at Citi Field. All game times are TBA.

Monday was a scheduled off day for the Mets, and it is not yet known how they might re-work their starting rotation in light of the postponements, time off, and upcoming doubleheaders.

Their initial expected starters for the Subway Series before it was postponed were Rick Porcello, Robert Gsellman, and Corey Oswalt.

With the extra time off, the Mets could potentially have the option of inserting Michael Wacha and/or David Peterson (both of whom are still currently on the IL) back into the rotation when they resume play while possibly swapping out Gsellman and/or Oswalt.
