Who is starting for the Mets?
Trevor Williams, who makes the spot start here in the doubleheader. He's been featured in the bullpen of late, but his last start came on July 7 against the Miami Marlins, where he tossed seven innings of no-run ball, giving up just two hits.
Since his rough start against the Texas Rangers on July 2, Williams has not allowed a run in any outing.
Who is starting for the Phillies?
Zack Wheeler, the former Met himself. He went against the Mets in his last start, getting shelled for six earned runs on nine hits while striking out five and walking one over six innings. Still, Wheeler has been solid this season, posting a 2.92 ERA over his outings.
Upcoming schedule
The Mets continue their day with the nightcap of the doubleheader at 7:05 p.m. It’s expected to be David Peterson going against Bailey Falter for that one.
