Prior to Tuesday night's game, Pete Alonso called a team meeting and said to his teammates, "not so many people saw us here four or five months ago so for us to be here is a huge testament to everyone here and we've always had that inner self-belief." He also responded with his bat, launching his 33rd HR of the season and driving in five runs as the Mets routed the Nationals 10-1.
