Miguel Castro was briefly placed on the COVID-19 injured list due to health and safety protocols, but he is negative and was activated prior to Tuesday's game.
Castro had felt symptoms early on Monday and told team personnel, and was placed on the IL prior to Monday night's game.
"He woke up with symptoms today. He did the right thing, he let the trainer know," Luis Rojas told reporters after Monday's game. "Then everyone else did the right thing as well. He's following the protocol, he's just isolated. He got tested. ... Per the symptoms that he has, that's when you can use the [COVID-19] IL, and then we brought {Albert] Almora on."
Castro is 2-3 with a 3.48 ERA over 43 games and 44.0 IP this season. He's struck out 48 batters and has recorded two saves as well. Over his last seven games, Castro is 0-1 with a 2.25 ERA and eight strikeouts in 8.0 IP.
To make room on the roster for Castro, the Mets option Geoff Hartlieb to Triple-A Syracuse.
