“The Shredder” has spoken.

Using a mix of advanced and traditional stats along with other offensive and defensive metrics, MLB Network has continued to roll out their “Top 10 Players Right Now” for each position.

On Wednesday night, “The Shredder” turned to the best right fielders in the game, with Michael Conforto coming in at No. 7.

Conforto has been in the headlines lately, as he said on Tuesday that he and the Mets have yet to speak this offseason about a potential contract extension, though the talks could progress soon. SNY’s Andy Martino outlined earlier on Wednesday what a potential Conforto extension could look like, noting that a contract worth around seven years and $175 million “might be closer to a number that would keep Conforto to testing free agency.”

The 27-year-old outfielder is shining example of the Mets’ finding and developing talent via the draft. After being selected 10^th overall in the 2014 MLB Draft, Conforto made his major league debut in 2015 and played in 56 games as a rookie while helping the Mets reach the World Series.

An All-Star selection in 2017, Conforto had a strong year in the shortened 2020 campaign, slashing .322/.412/.515 with nine home runs and 31 RBI in 54 games. Through his first six seasons in Queens, Conforto is a career .259/.358/.484 hitter with 118 home runs and 341 RBI. And aside from just the numbers, Conforto has evolved into a quiet leader for the Mets while providing a steady voice inside the clubhouse.

Conforto rose up two spots from last year’s list from ninth to seventh, while crosstown star Aaron Judge dropped from third to fourth. The top three on this year’s list was comprised of all NL talent with Mookie Betts, Juan Soto and Ronald Acuna Jr. respectively placing first through third.
