While looking at possible returns for their available players in advance of Wednesday's trade deadline, the Mets have also looked into trading for big league bullpen help, reports SNY's Andy Martino.

According to Martino, the Mets at one point even talked about Reds reliever Amir Garrett, who reached a level of infamy on Tuesday night when he basically took on the entire Pirates team in a wild brawl in Cincinnati.

Garrett, 27, has a 2.21 ERA (3.33 FIP) and 1.25 WHIP with 60 strikeouts in 40.2 innings this season.

He is under team control through 2023 season.

Regardless of how this season ends for the Mets, they need to bolster their bullpen before the 2020 season starts. Adding Garrett or another reliever with late-inning potential would help toward that goal.
