The Mets' farm system, buoyed by a pair of trades last summer that brought in three consensus top 100 prospects, is on the upswing.

Despite graduating a handful of top prospects last season -- including Francisco Alvarez -- the Mets' system overall is highly regarded by industry experts.

In rankings that were revealed on Friday, ESPN listed the Mets' system at No. 8 in MLB, while Baseball America ranked them No. 11.

The Mets have had a bunch of top prospects on each mainstream Top 100 list released this offseason, including six on ESPN's recent list.

Their system, which now includes several potentially high-impact position players at the upper levels of the minors, is led by Jett Williams, who will start this season in Double-A but could debut at some point this summer.

Drew Gilbert and Luisangel Acuña, two of the prospects acquired at the 2023 deadline, will both open the year with Triple-A Syracuse.

Ryan Clifford, acquired along with Gilbert from the Houston Astros in the Justin Verlander deal, should begin the season with High-A Brooklyn.

While lots of the focus has been on the Mets' position players, the system is starting to generate some intriguing starting pitching prospects.

None of the Mets' current crop of pitchers project as aces at the highest level, but a bunch of them -- including Christian Scott -- could be legitimate contributors in the rotation in the not-too-distant future.

In addition to Scott, Mike Vasil, Dominic HamelBlade Tidwell, and Brandon Sproat are among the starting pitchers to keep an eye on.
