With the Los Angeles Dodgers set to battle the Tampa Bay Rays in the World Series beginning on Tuesday night, it could be hard for Mets fans to muster up strong feelings when it comes to which team to root for.

The Atlanta Braves, a team most Mets fans would have been rooting against had they made it, were knocked off by the Dodgers after blowing a three-games-to-one lead in the NLCS.

The Houston Astros, a team pretty much any baseball fan outside of Houston would have been rooting against had they made it, were knocked off by the upstart Rays after climbing all the way back from a three-games-to-none hole to force Game 7 in the ALCS.

So, what's a Mets fan to do?

Root for the Dodgers *IF*

You want to see Clayton Kershaw -- one of the greatest pitchers ever -- finally capture his first World Series ring
You're no longer bothered by reminders of how the Mets let Dodgers infielder Justin Turner go
You're in an age group that remembers the Mets beating the Dodgers in the 2015 NLDS and the 2006 NLDS and not the Dodgers beating the Mets in the 1988 NLCS
You want to see a team with one of the best two-way players in baseball (Mookie Betts) rewarded for actually caring about team defense
You believe in karma, which would mean a wrong being righted in 2020 after the Dodgers were taken out in the 2017 World Series by the cheating Astros

Root for the Rays *IF*

You're in an age group that remembers the Dodgers crushing the Mets' hopes in the 1988 NLCS, robbing them of the chance to face the Oakland Athletics in the World Series and potentially capture their second World Series in three years
You want to see the knife twisted a bit further into the psyche of Yankees fans, who have already watched another AL East team (the Red Sox) win two titles since the Yanks last won one in 2009
You want to see more dominance from rookie slugger Randy Arozarena
You have older relatives who still despise the Dodgers for leaving Brooklyn for Los Angeles after the 1957 season
You identify with the underdog and want to see David take down Goliath

If after the above you still can't decide, just sit back and enjoy what should be tremendous baseball over the next week and change. It's the last live Major League Baseball we'll get until February of 2021.
