Interim Mets manager Andy Green thought Jonah Tong showed "toughness" in battling through a rough second inning against the Marlins and the competitive fire the organization wants to see going forward. Tong admitted to being a little "shellshocked" making his major league debut last season but is a lot more confident with where his feet are in 2026. A.J. Ewing is another young player feeling much more comfortable at the plate right now after another three-hit game with three RBI. Ewing added he enjoys playing behind Tong and was hyped seeing him grind through Miami's lineup.
