The Mets announced they have claimed INF Yolmer Sanchez off waivers.
Catcher Patrick Mazeika was designated for assignment as the corresponding move to allow Sanchez on the 40-man roster.
Sanchez spent 14 games with the Boston Red Sox this season, going 4-for-37 from the plate with two RBI.
But Sanchez's calling card is his glove, as his .969 fielding percentage at third base ranks seventh in MLB since 2014. His .986 percentage at second base is ninth in MLB over that span.
The 30-year-old was designated for assignment by Boston on Aug. 16.
