Who is starting for the Mets?

Max Scherzer, who is coming off a seven-inning, one-run performance against the Seattle Mariners. Scherzer leads the Mets with 55 strikeouts and a 0.91 WHIP. His 55 punchouts are also tied for the fifth-most in baseball. In his last outing against the Cards, he struck out 12 birds in seven scoreless frames.

Who is starting for the Cardinals?

Jordan Hicks, who has not been great in his first year as a starter. The former closer has 5.09 ERA as a starter this year (10 earned runs/17.2 innings) and has two scoreless relief outings. Opponents are only hitting .194 off him when he starts, but he owns just a 1.6 K/BB ratio in that role, allowing a .333 opponents' OBP.

Upcoming schedule

The Mets and Cardinals will complete their series in a Thursday matinee at 1:10 p.m. on SNY and the SNY App. Chris Bassitt will oppose Dakota Hudson.
