The Mets made a number of roster moves before Game 1 of Friday's doubleheader against the Yankees in the Bronx.

  • Michael Wacha was activated from the 10-day IL
  • Andres Gimenez was activated from the COVID IL
  • Jake Marisnick was activated from the 10-day IL
  • Corey Oswalt was placed on the 10-day IL
  • Drew Smith was optioned to the alternate training site in Brooklyn
  • Juan Lagares was DFA'd

Additionally, Luis Rojas announced that the team planned to activate David Peterson off the IL after Game 1 of Friday's doubleheader and have him start Game 2.

Gimenez, who had been on the COVID IL since Tuesday, went through protocols before being cleared, Rojas said.

Oswalt is dealing with a biceps issue, which began to bother him after his last appearance.

With Oswalt on the IL and the Mets needing a starting pitcher for Saturday, the likelihood is that Steven Matz or Robert Gsellman will make that start.

It is expected that Seth Lugo and Rick Porcello will get the starts for Sundays doubleheader.
