After adding Paul Blackburn to their starting rotation, the Mets made a trade to address their bullpen as well.
The Mets have acquired reliver RHP Tyler Zuber from the Tampa Bay Rays.
RHP Paul Gervase is being sent to Tampa in exchange, and RHP Ty Adcock has been designated for assignment to make room for Zuber on the 40-man roster.
Zuber, 29, was originally a sixth-round pick of the Kansas City Royals in 2017. He’s pitched parts of three seasons in the majors after making his debut in 2020, but didn’t pitch at all in the big leagues between the 2021 and 2024 seasons, as he missed some time due to a right shoulder impingement.
Zuber pitched six games for the Long Island Ducks this season before having his contract purchased by the Rays.
In total, Zuber has made 56 career appearances, pitching to a 5.13 ERA with 59 strikeouts and 39 walks in 52. 2 innings.
Gervase, 24, had been pitching for Double-A Binghamton, posting a 3.25 ERA in 22 appearances this season.
