The Mets have announced their minor league awards for the 2021 season, with catcher Francisco Alvarez being named Position Player of the Year and right-handed pitcher Adam Oller being named Pitcher of the Year.

Alvarez, 19, pulverized opposing pitchers while playing for Low-A St. Lucie and High-A Brooklyn.

In 99 games, Alvarez slashed .272/.388/.554 with 24 homers, 18 doubles, and 70 RBI.

Alvarez, who is expected to open the 2022 season with Double-A Binghamton, is the No. 10 prospect in all of baseball.

Oller, 26, has flown under the radar during a terrific season with Binghamton and Triple-A Syracuse.

In 22 starts, Oller has a 3.31 ERA and 1.15 WHIP with 133 strikeouts in 114.1 innings.

In addition to the awards given to Alvarez and Oller, the Mets named infielder Kevin Villavicencio their Dominican Academy Position Player of the Year and RHP Joel Diaz their Dominican Academy Pitcher of the Year.

The Mets named Matt Hunter and Kyle Driscoll their Player Development Staff Members of the Year.
