Then in the fourth, Scherzer was touched up for a two-run homer by Eric Hosmer that he called "a big blow at that point." Scherzer: "I was able to finish six innings but I got outpitched tonight." The lone bright spot for the Mets righthander was passing his idol, Bob Gibson, on the all-time strikeout list, of which he said "to pass him is a huge thing for me personally."
