In this Mets post game news conference, Max Scherzer felt that while he was grinding through the first three innings, his counterpart Yu Darvish was breezing. Then in the fourth, Scherzer was touched up for a two-run homer by Eric Hosmer that he called "a big blow at that point." Scherzer: "I was able to finish six innings but I got outpitched tonight." The lone bright spot for the Mets righthander was passing his idol, Bob Gibson, on the all-time strikeout list, of which he said "to pass him is a huge thing for me personally."
