After parting ways with Mickey Callaway, the Mets are searching for a new manager. Here's the latest on candidate Derek Shelton...

Oct. 15, 10:48 PM:

According to a report from the Minneapolis Star Tribune, Derek Shelton will interview with both the Mets and Pirates this week.

SNY's Andy Martino had previously reported that Shelton was among the list of candidates set to receive an in-person interview with the club.

Shelton previously interviewed for the Twins managerial job when they hired Paul Molitor, and also interviewed with the Rangers last offseason, but the club ultimately elected to hire Chris Woodward

He's previously served as the hitting coach for both the Indians and Rays, and served as the Blue Jays quality control coach in 2017. He does have managerial experience at the minor league level, as he managed in the Yankees farm system from 2000-02, when Robinson Cano was among the players to come through the system.
