Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo, who has not played since May, is getting close to being activated from the IL. Here are the latest updates...

Aug. 30, 4:16 PM:

According to Mickey Callaway, Nimmo will be in the lineup for Triple-A Syracuse on Friday night, and the team will then reevaluate the outfielder on Saturday. Nimmo was given a scheduled day off on Thursday.

Callaway was also asked if Nimmo was likely to be activated on Sunday, but he said he didn't have an exact date for when Nimmo may rejoin the club.

Aug. 29, 4:58 PM:

After Mickey Callaway said earlier in the afternoon that the plan was for Nimmo to play on Thursday, the outfielder was left off the lineup card when Triple-A Syracuse announced its starting nine.

Callaway has said that the Mets want to see Nimmo play back-to-back games before making a decision bringing him up, but the Mets are calling Thursday a scheduled day off for the 26-year-old.

Aug. 29, 4:10 PM:

The plan is for Nimmo to play again for Triple-A Syracuse on Thursday night, Mets manager Mickey Callaway said, while adding that there is not a definitive plan in place for when Nimmo will be activated.

If Nimmo plays all nine innings on Thursday night, he will have played 25 of the last 27 innings for Syracuse -- He played nine innings on Monday, and seven innings on Tuesday.

Aug. 27, 4:07 PM:

Nimmo will play center field and lead off for Triple-A Syracuse on Tuesday night and the plan is for him to play all nine innings, Mickey Callaway said. The plan after that is for Nimmo to play five innings for Syracuse on Wednesday.

If Nimmo gets through Tuesday and Wednesday without incident, it seems that he will be on the verge of being activated from the IL.

Aug. 26, 1:52 PM:

Nimmo is close to being activated by the Mets and is expected back by the end of the week, reports Mike Puma of the New York Post.

According to Puma, Nimmo needs to play consecutive full games during his rehab assignment with Triple-A Syracuse before being deemed ready.

Nimmo played nine innings on Sunday, and Syracuse is at home and in action every day this week.

Aug. 25, 6:16 PM:

After taking an 0-for-4 game in a rehab assignment with Syracuse on Friday, Nimmo got Saturday off but was back in the Triple-A lineup on Sunday, once again leading off and playing center field.

Nimmo went 3-for-4 with two RBI, knocking in runs with a double in the third and a single in the sixth. He's played in six games with Syracuse since re-starting his rehab assignment on Aug. 16, going 6-for-20 with two walks and three RBI. There is still no set date on his return, though he appears to be getting closer to a return to Queens.

Aug. 23, 3:13 PM:

Nimmo is in center field and leading off for Triple-A Syracuse on Friday night after getting the day off on Thursday.

While Nimmo is getting closer to a return, it doesn't seem like his activation is imminent.

Aug. 21, 11:17 PM:

Nimmo went 0-for-3 as he continued his rehab assignment with Syracuse.

Aug. 20, 3:08 PM:

Nimmo is taking the final step in his road back from injury, joining Triple-A Syracuse as he continues his rehab assignment, SNY's Andy Martino reports. Mets manager Mickey Callaway said before Tuesday night's game that there is no set number of games that Nimmo is expected to play in Triple-A, noting that they will rely on him to tell them when he feels ready at the plate and in the outfield.

Aug. 16, 9:41 PM:

Nimmo (back) began his rehab assignment with High-A St. Lucie, serving as the DH on Aug. 16.

The 26-year-old Nimmo has been out since May 21.
