2. Reggie Bullock picked up his fourth foul with two minutes to play in the second quarter. With the Knicks already playing without Derrick Rose and Elfrid Payton, Tom Thibodeau had to rely on Alec Burks to pick up the load off the bench. And that he did.

The Sixers were outscoring the Knicks to start the third, but Burks and RJ Barrett and Julius Randle led the charge to give them a nine-point lead heading into the final quarter.

3. But the Sixers roared back, taking their first lead since early in the second quarter with five minutes to play on the shoulders of Simmons, Furkan Korkmaz and Seth Curry.

Harris created separation on a turnaround jumper and gave the Sixers a 96-92 lead with 1:49 to play. Barrett responded with a dunk off a Randle assists to pull within two again, as things got as intense as ever.

4. The Knicks had a chance to tie the game, but Barrett missed a jumper in the paint and then had to foul Korkmaz. He missed the first and hit the second to make it a three-point game with 15.1 left on the clock.

Immanuel Quickley rushed a three-pointer that hit off the backboard, Randle picked up the offensive rebound and kicked it out to Bullock, but he stepped out of bounds before getting the shot off to all but seal the 99-96 comeback win for the Sixers.

This is the second straight game that the Knicks had a chance to tie the game while down three, and the second straight loss.

5. Barrett had 17 points on 7-of-17 shooting, eight rebounds and four assists. Randle nearly had a triple double, finishing with 19 points, 15 rebounds and eight assists.

Burks chipped in 19 off the bench, while Quickley added 13 points in his second start for the Knicks.

6. Nerlens Noel had four blocks for the Knicks and almost had a fifth late in the fourth, but it was called a goaltending.

Obi Toppin and Frank Ntilikina were both scoreless in this one. Toppin went 0-for-1 in seven minutes of play, while Ntilikina was 0-for-4 in 15 minutes -- though he did have two steals.

This is the third straight game Ntilikina has gone scoreless.

7. Simmons finished with 16 points, 13 rebounds and seven assists, while Curry (20 points) and Harris (30 points) each hit four three pointers.

Danny Green struggled Tuesday, going 1-for-10 from the field and 1-for-7 from three, but helped on defense.

8. Thibodeau said before the game that the Knicks are still waiting to see when Rose will be allowed to return to the team. He's missed the last six games due to the league's health and safety protocols for the coronavirus.
